I don't think I can even list all the new words she's learned in the past month and a half.

[More to be added as we think of them.]

The stats (16.75 months old): Jun. 8th, 2004 @ 11:26 pm
Length: 32.5" [between the 75th - 90th percentiles for 17 mo. olds]

Weight: 23lbs [just below 50th% -- I tend to distrust the scale in that office, so I think she actually weighs more than that.]

Otherwise, another uneventful doctor's visit. The doctor asked me if the kid could do stuff she's already been doing for months now and that was pretty much it -- we go back in January for a 2 year checkup.

Another first: Jun. 1st, 2004 @ 08:25 am
First request: "A bee?" [trans.: My pacifier?]

Sadly, we were in the car and I did not have a bee on me, so the request was followed by much heart-breaking crying, punctuated with "A bee? A beeeeee..."

Damn, that's cool. May. 22nd, 2004 @ 06:11 pm
I asked Trixie if she was ready to eat some spaghetti for dinner, and, because I was bored, I started singing the cold spaghetti part of the song 'Hot Potato.' She started waving her arms up and down. Huh, I thought. I moved on to the mashed banana part. She pressed her hands together, making a squashing motion. I got to the hot potato part and she touched her fists together.

I realized she was doing the little dance The Wiggles do to that song. I didn't show her; I didn't do it with her; she just learned it.

That's crazy.

I'm working on a list of what beatrix_harriet can do at age 16 months old, which will be forthcoming, but meanwhile, here is today's intellectual leap forward:

While waiting to see the doctor, I gave her a pen and the receipt for my insurance co-payment. She very deliberately drew a circle [meeting up the ends and all], pointed to it and exclaimed, "Ball!"
» Thanks, Easter Bunny! BAWK BAWK!

» We should start keeping track of this sort of thing.
